Ok, I don’t know if I’ll get around to it EVERY day, but with so very much blooming around here I’m going to try…
Today’s Bloom of the Day is the Black Viola (Viola cornuta):
With a face no larger than a dime, you have to get down on its level to see this bloom properly, but once you’re there it’s totally worth it.

Can you post more than one flower and just name the one you want to be the bloom of the day? This sounds like fun!

@Darla: Like *I’m* going to impose rules. Knock yourself out, the more the merrier, etc.

That is gorgeous! I’ve had this dream for years that I’m going to have a flower bed with nothing but black flowers in it. i’m going to have to find one of those up here.
Most of the black varieties I’ve seen are actually a very deep purple, but that looks nearly true-black.

@Caitlin: That was in full sun, too, so yeah, it’s as close to black as it gets.

I thought the violas would have been gone by now but my little yellow ones are hanging on still too. I LOVE the black one you have… and I hear you snorting.
