@Darla: We're in central Florida, zone 9b. We're going to have some high-30s the latter part of this week but everything we're growing is cold-weather anyway (except the corn), so I'm not too worried about it. We will bring in the bonsai and the seeds in pots, but the stuff in the ground will be fine unless it sprouts between now and then (unlikely).

We have SIX cats, thank you. Two on purpose and four foundlings, so we have plenty of slipper material already.

I can't find what part of FL you are in, I am in North Florida and we are expecting Jack Frost at the end of this week. I will probably loose a lot of my blooms then. You have a lot going on, I am getting ready to start some seeds inside. We have one cat too many here!! How many pair of slippers do you need?

@Caitlin: That's what I was hoping to hear. So those will definitely go in the bean boxes (yet to be built!) then.

@Nancy Bond: Thanks for the vote of confidence. :) I may be calling on you when I run out of space.

@Karen: Oh noooes, LOVE Key Lime pie. I'm the only one in the household that does though, so it'd just be ME. At least the rest of them do eat the Key Lime cookies.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm thinking you don't like Key Lime pie, but really, who doesn't like Eagle Brand?

Kitty slippers...interesting. ;) Your plans for the garden are ambitious, indeed, but judging by what you've already harvested, I'm sure it will do very well.

Dayam.

So, this is in response to your question about the edamame from another thread (you know how lazy I am): they taste GREAT. They are slightly sweet, a tiny bit nutty, and very good with a little sea salt sprinkled on the pods just before you eat them. Just steam them till they turn deep green - you want them to be ever so slightly crunchy.

Do not think "tofu" when you think edamame. True, edamame is also a soybean, but really... totally different.
