Yeah, yeah, I just wouldn’t want to here other people’s comments such as as the one I’m about to give: save Jessie James (boring) and get 3:10 to Yuma (much better). Maybe I’m just defensive that the vast majority of my movie titles have the words Barbie or Bratz in them . . .

Quoi? I should be afraid someone might see what my taste in movies is like? I make no apologies, we like what we call “detail” movies. The film may suck overall, but if it has some detail that delights us…a scene-stealing performance (Joan Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank), excellent gags (Transporter AND Transporter 2), whathaveyou…then we’ll probably buy the sucker. We use Netflix to vet a lot of the independents, and some of the box office stinkers, because I have a very strict “have to see it before we can buy it” rule, for which the movie Ultraviolet takes full and complete credit.

Fabulous dragonfly pictures! We don’t have dragonflies, but damselflies (my son is a bug geek and knows these things), the sort with the neon bodies that look like cocktail bar signs. As soon as we filled up the pond, there they were. They seem to spend most of their time making out, as I believe you Americans call it. Talk about happy hour…

@meems: Sadly I think those delphiniums are on the way out. Had them behind the canna lilies, who decided “hey, we’re not reallly dwarf after all!” Then moved them next to the crepe myrtle (with as little root disturbance as possible, dammit) and now parts of the plants are actually blackening, while other parts are still blooming. Very odd.

Relaxation sounds good but doesn’t happen often enough… sometimes a day of rain can prompt one. And thanking God for the rain for sure!

I’ve been wondering lately what DOES attract dragonflies and what makes them hang out in the garden?… have been meaning to do a little research. I like your idea of vertical… only when they do land I can rarely get close enough with my puny camera to get clear shots. Your dragon flies are stunning as well as the delphinium… beautiful blue.
