Why is counting to five in German so much cooler than doing so in any other language?
After another coat of color, my hair is still determinedly pink. I’m forced to assume the Manic Panic color I received is pink-in-the-wrong-container. And those of you who know I am SO not a “pink” person know how much this sucks.
The Husband’s doctor called this morning (waking me up, thank yew) to tell him to stop taking the insulin injections. Can I get a WOO FRICKIN HOO from the congregation. He’s changing him to a different pill in the morning and the morning pill moves to the nighttime, so still some meds, just not the pesky injections every day. We’ll continue on with the reduced-carb diet because it does all of us good…we’ll reallyreallyreally miss spaghetti though, especially since I started putting chunks of hot sausage into the sauce. *whine*
This week was BAD on the sinus infection front. Even though I’m already on Cipro, it takes time for it to get in there and kick arse. Headaches requiring darkened rooms and absolute stillness are not a happiness. Things seem to be improving finally though, when a routine run through Target does not leave me gasping and sweating.
One things for sure, we’re having frigging flu shots this fall.
Note to self: The Sarah Connor Chronicles starts tonight. Watch it, in support of Firefly alum, or ignore it knowing that Frigging Fox will cancel it in two weeks anyway? Jerks.

Woo Freakin’ Hoo!!
Have you considered putting the spaghetti sauce on chicken instead? I know it’s not the same as spaghetti but… (or is spaghetti sauce off the menu too?)

We eat the hell out of some chicken. Some chicken parmesan would be damn good though…

Watched the Sarah Conner show last night. Started kinda slow, but could be fun. Some of the dialog was pretty good, so I give it a B-minus. Thanks for the reminder.
Now. That photo just kicks all ass!

Thanks! But which…the bouganvillea extreme close-up or my crazy hair?

The meat is the least problematic thing in spaghetti.
The one nice thing about being insulin-dependent is that you can, on rare occasion, say “Screw it,” shoot up an overdose, and eat like you’ll die if you don’t.
Seriously, that’s the only good thing.
But really seriously, draconian portion control can allow you not to forgo particular favorites completely. Husband (I assume no one wants us using names here) can have a little sketti but mainly sausage or whatever while the rest of you eat normally. As long as he can maintain discipline, which shouldn’t be a problem. I mention this only because I would not wish our dietary restrictions on anyone.
It can be a wondrous thing to savor the joy of a single Hershey’s Kiss.

It’s SO not a good thing and you need to cut it out!
Re: less pasta, we know, but he LOOOOOVES pasta. So it’s no cook-y except for the girlchild, because, dammit, I just feel bad about it when he can’t eat it.
Dudes…he’s going to try ROASTED SQUASH. *faints*
on Jan 15th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Dude, I actually typed “there’s always spaghetti squash.” in my last comment, and then deleted it, because I thought — there’s no way they’re ever going to eat spaghetti squash.
Go you. Even if you didn’t mean that kind of squash.
on Jan 15th, 2008 at 10:24 am
I told him about spaghetti squash…we’re SO going to try it. Have you had it? How does it taste?
on Jan 15th, 2008 at 11:34 am
I like it, but I love almost all squash anyway. (I admit to being a freak.)
It doesn’t have a strong flavor, so the sauce overpowers it. The consistency isn’t exactly like spaghetti, but it’s not nasty, just different. It’s not as… dense. I have a low grossout threshold for texture, and it doesn’t bother me at all.
on Jan 15th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I have HUGE texture issues. We’re going to try it anyway, dammit. Wonder if I could sneak it in on the Girlchild. She still only eats three fucking things.
on Jan 22nd, 2008 at 10:20 am
So, did you try it?
on Jan 22nd, 2008 at 10:24 am
Not yet, it’s sitting there on the kitchen island. Watching me.
We did try roasted acorn squash. We are SO not acorn squash people.
on Jan 22nd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Acorn squash can be pretty decent when you roast it with butter and brown sugar, but that’s probably off the menu, yeah? It’s not my favorite either.
on Jan 22nd, 2008 at 12:23 pm
I basted it while cooking with a combination of soy sauce, honey and garlic (per A’s recommendation) and that part was fine…it’s the odd aftertaste that put us both off. Boychild tried a piece and the face he made was priceless.
on Jan 30th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Awww man, she’s still eating 3 things? You can’t tell me this. One boy will only eat fishsticks, the other fishsticks, chicken nuggets, and tots. (Fries went right off the menu after an Urgent Care extraction.) You’re supposed to tell me there’s an end in sight and they won’t be in Pull-Ups ’til college. I, for one, adore the pink hair. But you know me…

Dreamfields Pasta has 5g of Carbs per serving. Beats boosting the pre-meal Insulin up. Doesn’t help at all with eliminating the blood testing and the rest of the daily shots though.
